Of course you will not be able to run over people because MM3 is a family game. promises that many open areas, like parks and plazas will be swarming with all kinds of frightened Parisisans and Washington DCites. Most of the population that you'll be trying to run over and around has not been added. Running into lamp posts will yield blue sparks of electricity as the post snaps at the point of impact.

During one particularly dangerous run down a Paris boulevard we saw thousands of apples from a fruitcart, rubbish from a rubbish receptacle, glass shards from giant windows and coins from a payphone go flying every which way as we powered our way through. In the middle of the street everything's okay, but you'll be smashing up against buildings, sidewalks and storefronts in this game and the developers have made sure to include plenty of real world stuff to break in those areas. The particles system in MM3 is at least as impressive as the lighting. There's nothing particularly flashy or obnoxious about the lighting effects, but the whole city of Paris and your vehicle of choice are thrown in and out of shadows and give off reflections in real time with the greatest of ease and realism. The lighting in MM3 is very much in line with what we should all expect from the Xbox. Many of the online functionality of Midtown Madness 3 hasn't been implemented yet, but the racing/driving engine is looking much better than what was shown at E3. are proving that they're one of the development teams that's become extremely comfortable with Xbox development extremely soon.
Even though Midtown Madness 3 won't be arriving until early 2003, it's still one of the most important Xbox Live compatible titles we know of.
